NOVEMBER 2016 BASEBALL & SOFTBALL OPEN WORKOUT SCHEDULES

Academy Members, Friends and Family,

The workout schedules for November 2016 are now available. Please read carefully to make yourself aware of any new changes. Thank you in advance for your cooperation.

REMINDER: Always check our BLOG before heading to the Academy to make sure there are no last-minute changes or cancellations of scheduled workouts.

Academy Members, please arrive 15 to 30 minutes prior to scheduled workout times.

    • Ages 8 to 12
      • WEDNESDAYS: 11/02, 11/09, 11/16, 11/30 from 5 P.M. to 7 P.M.
      • FRIDAYS: 11/04, 11/18 from 5 P.M. to 7 P.M.

FREE Clinic for Academy SOFTBALL Members Ages 7 to 18

Attention Academy Softball Members Ages 7 to 18

The Concordia University Irvine Softball team will be hosting a FREE clinic for Academy members ages 7 to 18 on Sunday, October 30, 2016 on our softball field.

Receive instruction from Concordia University Irvine Softball coaches and players, meet the team, coaches and more!!! You must be an Academy member to attend.

Broadcasting Program

Major League Baseball Urban Youth Academy
Broadcasting Program
Dates: October 5th – November 9th

Class Meetings: Wednesdays

Time: 4:30 p.m. – 6:30 p.m.

Location: Urban Youth Academy in Compton

Ages: 13 – 18

Attention all baseball and softball academy members, the Major League Baseball Urban Youth Academy will be having a free broadcasting program. Classes will provide information on the varying career paths within the industry, hands-on instruction, and project assignments. Content will consist of public speaking, writing, producing, editing, filming, and more. Participants will have an opportunity to be involved in special MLB Urban Youth Academy events. Come take advantage of this great learning and networking opportunity!

Requirements:

  1. Attend every class session.
  2. Submit a typed one-page double-spaced paper explaining why you want to participate in this program and what you want to learn from it.

 

 

Limited to first 20 persons. Deadline for submissions is Monday, October 3, 2016.

New Exclusive opportunity For Academy Baseball Members – Academy members 9th grade through 12th grade on Saturday 09/24/2016

Urban Youth Academy & Trosky Baseball Presents the Learn4Life College Showcase Camp – A complete Educational Experience!

  • WHEN: September 24, 2016 at the Urban Youth Academy in Compton from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
    • Check-in at 08:30 a.m. – Academy members 9th grade through 12th grade ONLY
    • Must be an Academy member to participate!!!
      • New/non-Academy members must complete and submit an Academy Membership Application to our office prior to start of the event
      • $25 membership donation requested
      • Links to membership applications and general Academy information located on the right-side column of this blog
  • WHO CAN ATTEND: Academy Members 9th grade through 12th grade ONLY
    • Parents are highly encouraged to listen, watch and observe during the camp (NO FIELD ACCESS)
  • CAMP STAFF: College Coaches, Trosky Baseball Staff, MLB Scouts, Urban Youth Academy Instructors and current College Players
  • ATTIRE: Baseball attire, hat, cleats (BOTH regular athletic shoes AND baseball cleats)
  • COST: FREE to Academy Members ($25 Academy membership donation requested at time of new membership registration)

PURPOSE:

  1. To connect Academy members with College Coaches helping them receive college scholarships and opportunities to play college baseball.
  2. To provide exposure to the different levels of college baseball – DI, DII, DIII, NAIA, in-state JC (Community College), and out-of-state JC (Community College).
  3. To educate both parents and players. The educational piece of camp will take place towards the end of camp in which all 6 colleges will speak specifically about their institution, academically and athletically, answering questions and addressing the importance of academics and what it takes to be a successful student athlete in college. Current College Players will also attend and be speaking.
  4. To teach and stress the importance of the 6th Tool (Self-discipline / Self-motivation / Self-control / Self-confidence)
  5. To advance the skills of the players through our 5 Tool Training model
  6. Learn4Life presentation about the importance of academics and character development and what their charter school offers to high school students.

The Academy will be closed on the following days for the Labor Day weekend:
